Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hi, Newbie AllanGTS ,

So I started my new Website and I'm not sure the name is sweet.

I tried to reflect on how "I" feel about life and ....
How "I" feel about photography.

I looked for inspiration from other co-photographers and eventual ...

lifeAperture.com

What do you think?:sexywink:

Was aperturelife.com not available? Personally I don't like the sites that are something along the lines of inspiringimmages.com. I would rather have jamesconkle.com.... And I would think its better for SEO.

Thanks J,

Good idea, maybe a second site?

ITO SEO, what in your view is more important, Name or Keywords?

Kind regards
Allan

I think your photography should speak louder than your name.

Agreed, and even louder when it projects feeling and emotion?

lifeaperture doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside personally. And I don't think that the goal of a name is to do such. I think artistically, you could accomplish far more by having strong and impacting images, then wondering how every individual person will react to your name.

Your photos should speak; and your name should be remembered because of what your photos said.

Make it easy to remember and forget about the rest of the BS. That's the best advice I can give.

I'm not sure that most 'normal' (aka - potential clients) would see 'aperture' and automatically associate that with 'photographer'...

If the target audience is other photographers, then sure - use camera terms and stuff like that. Most non-photographer people I know wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about if I said my aperture was set to f/2.8 though.

I also would prefer just a simple photographers name as the domain. I wouldn't mind if you had a full on business like an actual brick and mortar place if you used the name for the store or something.

If I am being completely honest, "lifeAperture" sounds sort of pretentious like you are trying too hard. I really do not mean that to come off harshly or insulting, just if I stumbled across a photog with a site named that, it would kind of make me look at them as a bit of a jack@ss ( Even if that wasn't the case, it would just be a subconcious assumption ) However, thats just my opinion.

EDIT: I should note that I am always a Cynic, so perhaps my opinion is not shared by the masses on that.

Hmmmm, the customer might not know what aperture is or how to say it.

Also, isn't there some guideline in advertising somewhere.... It has something to do with the 3 second rule...such as if you showed a customer a logo and then pulled it away would they remember the exact image?? I think it sort of applies to the name too. (they might not remember how to spell it and therefore unable to find your site).

Point taken. This is most probably the single most important guideline when deciding on a name.
