Photographing bonsai in a museum

Hi all,
I think I should give some background first before I ask my question. I have a blog that I started last year that promotes tourism in Tokyo. I started with a FujiFilm compact that did pretty well as far as I`m concerned. I`ve done everything from parks and museums up to some of the big trade shows in Tokyo (rather funny looking back walking into those shows on business days with my little camera with every man and his dog walking around with some mammoth cameras). Recently I upgraded to a DSLR, a Pentax K-30 but I still am quite the novice so far as photography is concerned.

Anyway, I`ve been given permission to do an article with photos (of course) on a bonsai museum (that traditional Japanese art of working with small trees). I know I`m being rather vague here, but that can`t be helped as I`m rather limited with experience but ... is there anything I really need to know about photographing a museum? Or maybe anything I really need to know about photographing bonsai? The display is inside with some parts outside.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for that KmH, the book was delivered to me a few minutes ago literally. I`ve already had a quick scan through and it will be great reading. Actually, the visit to the museum was yesterday and lighting conditions were atrocious, so my photos were less than pleasing. Anyway, I have the book now and hopefully I can put what is inside it into practice for the next time.

Well, I read Light Science and Magic for a few days and realised it was way past where I was, but that`s ok as it will be useful for me one day. But yesterday I was looking around the net for other useful books and I found Understanding Exposure which was probably what I was looking for in the first place, but I didn`t have the knowledge/experience to ask the correct question in the first place. Anway, it is all good as my photography library is starting to grow.
