Photographing lamps?

I have a lamp that has a sandblasted glass "shade", something like this:

Whenever I take a picture of my room, the lamp just shows up as a big ball of light instead of having clear definition of its shape. Holding all else constant, if I stop down until I can see the corners and edges of the lamp, everything else becomes pitch black. Without softwares like Photoshop, is there a way to photograph something exactly the way the naked eye would see it?

I am using a Fuji X-T1+18mm f2, at night, with lights on.

Either fill the room with additional light to balance the output of the lamp, OR.... put a dimmer on the lamp and experiment with different brilliance levels 'til you get the look you want.

^This. You need to add supplemental lighting to balance the room. When you see architectural photographs or product shots that show a well lit room with lights on that is normally done by lighting the room with strobes and then using a shutter speed that will allow the lights in the room to still "glow" a bit. Often now it's done with multiple shots.

I have nothing to add of how to shoot a lamp

but i do have to say that that is a kewl lamp !!
