Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Question for you seasoned Photogs. I am wanting to update my home computer system and would like to take into consideration my photography aspirations while I am at it. Naturally, I am trying to be cost conscious while doing this which is why I am looking towards you seasoned photogs to see what your recommendations would be.

Which of these setups would you recommend?

Mac:

27" iMac ($1,699) (good size screen, good speed, good size storage, but not mobile)
2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB hard drive[SUP]1[/SUP]
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB

27" iMac ($1,999) (good size screen, good speed, good size storage, but not mobile)

3.1GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB hard drive[SUP]1[/SUP]
AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB

15" MacBook Pro ($2,199) (good speed, good size storage, mobile, but small screen and expensive)

2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
750GB 5400-rpm[SUP]1[/SUP]
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5

Windows:

15.6" HP Envy ($1,144) (good speed, good size storage, IPS display, mobile, but small screen and not Mac OSX)
2.2Ghz Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM with Turbo Boost to 3.1GHz
8GB DDR3 (two 4GB) memory (max 16GB)
750GB (7200RPM) hard drive[SUP]1
[/SUP]Intel HD 3000 graphics and the AMD Radeon HD 7690M with 1 gig of DDR5 VRAM (Switchable Graphics)

and maybe add...

Two HP 2511 x 25" LED monitors ($454)
or
Two HP 2711 x 27" LED monitors ($542)

27" iMac ($1,999) (good size screen, good speed, good size storage, but not mobile)

3.1GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB hard drive[SUP]1[/SUP]
AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB

Yeah....the quest for quality, reliability, beautiful design, and simplicity versus the cheapest possible price on something that sort of gets the job done...the old Mac versus Win-doze debate. Besides, the Mac can be booted into Windoze, should you feel more comfortable with that...it's like two computers in one.

With the ever-increasing size of digital camera video clips and image files, plus the absolutely chitty screen on most laptops, there is no laptop computer that's really well-suited for image handling, processing, and editing. Buy the best computer you can afford, and enjoy it.

I'd go with a iMac over the MacBook. Currently I use a MacBook Pro 15"

2GHz Intel Cor i7
4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
500 GB (But I store all my photos on an external hard drive 800 GB)

Runs well, looking to upgrade ram sticks though
