Photography update and looking for some set up advice...

Hey everyone, no one remembers me but I was here for a little while a very long time ago.

I'm back to seek your advice and show you guys a little update of my ability.

I haven't taken any photos in awhile since my setup has become unable to do the job and i was looking into make my own little makeshift studio with a sheet backdrop and possibly an umbella and softbox. I was also looking into signing up for Kelby training.

As of this moment i'm still using my D90 with standard flash, three lights (from walmart) and my sigma 105mm macro, just for comparison i'll post the last picture I posted here and a few of my recent (two months ago) shots.

This photo I honestly love, its not that great as I felt I was really pushing my limits and the quality suffered but I still love the capture.

Love this shot.. almost abstract! Great color and detail, and the little bit of flash glare highlights it nicely....

Thank you cgipson I have to agree its a very different shot, I love how the black striped scales look and just generally how the lighting came out.
