Since Google is an US based company, US copyright law would apply to Google Maps' copyrighted images. www.copyright.gov

Yes, I understand.
Anyway, Google has no written authorization from me when they took photos of my house for their street view project neither.

But aside of that, I understand that I may not use or modify their content. But that was not the point.
I was showing the ability to create stuff from or with other parts. And not even for commercial use.
I don't even earn money with my blog.

It's just to show a fun creative way to work with. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway, if they'd ask, I'll put it offline.
It would be pity because it's good publicity for them. I even linked and named their service...

They don't need permission to take photos of your house for street view. With few exceptions, if it's visible from a public space, you can legally photograph it. Know Your Rights: Photographers | American Civil Liberties Union. (Of course, this applies to the USA; other countries have their own laws which may be similar or different.)

As I recall it's not clear that Street View imagery is eligible for copyright. Google, of course, claims that it is. As far as I know they have not even attempted to protect it, however, despite the fact that people have appropriated that imagery and sold it for profit on several occasions that I know about.

Your home is in plain view from public property (the street), and in the US at least it's fair game for Google or anyone else to take photos of it, even for commercial use. It likely the same in Belgium too.

But aside of that, I understand that I may not use or modify their content. But that was not the point.

It doesn't matter if you do, or don't earn money with your blog.

The point is most of the intellectual property on the Internet is protected by copyright, and is not free for the taking.
