Photos edited in LR look different saved to HD

I am editing in LR. When I export to my HD, the file doesn't look the same as in LR. When I export, I am exporting as a JPG but the file says TIF. In the metadata it says it's a tif file but I have it exporting as a JPG. I am confused. Help greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Little more info would help, If you're exporting straight from Lightroom - it defaults to .TIF if I recall correctly, you have to choose the drop down box beneath the file name and change to .jpg.

If you're just using export, make sure you change the filetype to .jpg in the file settings about half way down the pop up box.

When you say it looks different how?

It'd be best to walk us through how you are trying to export as there is no valid reason a file selected to exported as .jpg should save as a .tif or indeed look any different. to the Lightroom edit as far as I can think.
