Photos losing information

[simpsontruckdriver]

These are 2 different photos taken a few months apart, and this is on Linux Mint Cinnamon. Anyway, the top one shows camera information, the bottom one does not. Same with Image Viewer, no info. All photos taken over the last month do not show camera info. Is that a camera (Nikon D810) issue, or a Linux issue?

Thanks!

The pixel dimensions changed. Did you edit the image sometime?
Also, you highlighted two different images.

Correct, I used GIMP, and I showed one with and one without EXIF. Another photographer said it most likely unchecked the "Save EXIF" when I exported to the new size. I checked it, clicked "Save Settings", tested it on a photo with EXIF and exported it to a new name, saved!

i am on mint 22.2 and it does not happen to me. you edited it with something that removed the metadata. if i do it with gimp it preserves them.
