Photoshop Elements 5.0 HELP!

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and to photography and I'm in desperate need of help regarding Photoshop Elements 5.0. I'm having trouble opening RAW images. When I try I get an error message stating "Cannot open because it is the wrong type of file."

Any suggesstions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, I actually found the same thing when I searched google. Tried what was suggested and still no luck.

Yeah we should shut down the question part of the forum and just have a link to google.

not sure if that was a jab at my reply, but if it was, shutty.... 90% of the questions i've read in this forum could be answered by either doing a search in the forum, or by googling, its stupid to have 10 threads with the same topic (or 100 threads for that matter)

If it disturbs you so much then why would you reply?
Surely your time which is so valuable would be better spent on something you consider more productive.

could be, not really sure...

as for your comments.. i guess my issue is, far to often, people post a question, then like 30 mins later, they are posting a double message saying "anyone" because no one has replied in 5 minutes to their post... when it could have taken them 30 seconds to google it...

Thats fair enough but lets give a new member the benefit of the doubt before we lump them in with those who have gone before.

I just had a quick look in the search and seems someone else had this problem with version 5.0.

You know seems like a lot of people on here with there reply's are getting rude. What is a forum with out stupid questions or multiple post? Whats a forum with a link to google? Probably not a good forum. Just remember everyone has to start somewhere and it is here to ask questions regardless if you think there stupid or not. We all have to start somewhere. Just my 2 cents.

I decided to try shooting in RAW tonite and got this same error message. I have elements 5 and the only camera raw update i can find is v 5.1, which clearly states that it does not work with elements versions earlier than 6. I can't find anywhere to download the 4.6 update. I am new to all this, and have googled but not come up with any answers?????? Any help would be appreciated, I really would like to keep using elements 5.0 and not have to upgrade yet. Thanks for any help!!

ahaa! I found it and I was able to open the raw files in the elements 5.0 editor!!!!! :lmao: here is the link in case anybody else stumbles upon this problem:
