Photoshop help

I seem to be having problems with PSE freezing up on me. Anyone else have this problem? I'm running Win98 and I have plenty of RAM. I run Autocad, Solidworks and other large programs so I don't think that PSE is overwhelming my system.

Maybe it was just certain very large image files?

Check that there is enough storage on C:\ for the dynamic Scratch Disk.
Check that your Scratch Disk is large enough.

I'll bet anything that's the solution to your problems! I had a similar problem, running on Win 98SE and all I did was designate the D: partition of my Hard Drive to be the scratch disk. Problem eliminated.

I was wondering about that...

Last week I reinstalled a bunch of times, had to fix some bad sectors with scan disk and then went through a three hour defrag. I haven't had much time to try it out this week yet so I don't know if the problem persists.

Every time I reinstalled, everything would work for a while but then after a while, any application that opened up a dialogue window in PSE would freeze the program.

I don't have a ton of space left on the old hard drive but over a gig should be enough for the scratch disk. Maybe I could use one of my network drives...or would that slow it down too much?

The darn thing is still giving me head aches.

I don't have another drive, or a partition, so the scratch disk is set for c:\. I have tried running it with the images on a network drive, I have tired it with the program on the network drive and the images on both the local & network drives. I have reinstalled repeatedly, I have scanned & defraged the hard drive.

Every time, I reinstall...everything works a few times but after a while, I can't do anything with a pop-up dialogue box...it just freezes.

This is driving me crazy :x
