Photoshop is a game changer

Thanks for the tip, but as I said before, I am just getting started with PS. The skies I used were AI generated in PS.
There's a wealth of free HD, royalty free images on Adobe and other sites that aren't AI generated. Over the years I've collected a library of colorful skies. You never know when you might need them. Kudos on your experimentation, that's the best way to learn.

. AI is not your work is it.
If I were to write a novel that painted a picture in the readers mind, or a musical score that evoked an image of a storm on the horizon, would that not be my work? There seems to be a misunderstanding as to how AI image generation works. It's a tool, without the creative input from the artist, it creates nothing.

Actually you are wrong about that. They are not ai generated. They are in your installation folder. Like your brushes and gradients.
You are correct about that. Please quit trying to show how superior you are with Photoshop. I only posted photos to show what I have learned so far. It I actually wanted a critique, I would have posted them in the CC category.

Of course that is your work. You wrote the novel, created the image / music. But AI generated images or musical works are not -if you use AI to generate them.

I think that is the opinion that is prevalent today in most places. AI is not your own creation.

Myself, I agree for now but think it is a gray area and opinions may change over the next few years.

Using somebody else's sky picture of course is definitely not your own work. But I've done that too, and IMO it is fine if you say what you did.

I love photoshop. I use it everyday. It's not often I get to discuss it. I offered you help and you said in your thread your a newby (NOOB). I point out a mistake and you lash out at me. That's uncalled for. Rude even.

This category you posted a thread in reads under General Gallery:

A gallery for sharing photos and getting feedback, including general critique.

I guess you don't read the fine print.

I think some of 'us' tend to be a little argumentative. Personally I think we all should be free to express our opinions tactfully without getting aggressive comebacks.
(Note emphasis!)

It's a bit like using a picture from a reporter who photographed a spot in the vietnam war

Tactful? Your avatar is of Benny Hill, an amalgam of slapstick, burlesque and double entendre comedy. I don't think he was ever tactful. Maybe you should replace your avatar with Adam Curtis. Or maybe one of yourself.

Well, my avatar is just a bit of fun isn't it.
You perfectly demonstrate my point about some people wanting to be argumentative! Thanks.

You are a troll.

You said some of us. You meant me. Why didn't you just say my user name?

You have a stolen image of comedian as your avatar on a photography forum. And whenever a OP gets defensive you make sure to post something vaguely insulting about me. I'm not arguing this, I'm stating it as a fact. You get excited being an anonymous troll.

Your the second guy on here I have to click ignore. You've finally shown your true colors.

You are pathetic and insulting. I am a respected member of about 6 special interest forums, and have been for many years. I have had only good and friendly interactions with everybody in those forums. Never ever has anyone been insulting like you. The LAST thing I am is a troll. I have used as my avatar a freely available image because people find it amusing as I do. You state nothing as "fact". I didn't use your name precisely because I want to keep discussion friendly without pointing any fingers. You have some sort of persecution complex. As I said, you just want to argue and 'big yourself up'.

Your choice of words is what I am mainly talking about. You used a very strong word, "Wrong" in your last post. I am not thin skinned, but that word was insulting. You could have said, "you are mistaken which I was. I have been on this forum for almost 2 decades and only had one other run in with a another formite.

Scott you are not alone in finding that person's responses unnecessarily 'abrasive'. Keep at it with PSD, The more you use it, the more you'll love it.

Thank you. I intend to learn as much as I can with PS. I have always been able to use LR for most of my PP, but have decided to take it up a notch with PS. There is so much to learn. Just trying to remember which thing to use on the left side of the screen is confusing. PS is such a powerful program. Thanks, again.

@Scott Whaley Watching tutorial videos, and actually doing just as you are is the best way. As you advance it will become easier.

I can't stress how important it is to get into the habit of editing nondestructive. Here's a some basic information to get you started, https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/nondestructive-editing.html You might have already seen these, but Free Tutorials has a ton of free tutorials, easy to understand and follow along. Another is https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...MQFnoECBYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0A4iXkEnflXJBO-y7CLwrf

Also remember that while PS has the ability to perform editing functions in multiple ways, you have to determine which techniques will work best with your image. That ability comes with experience.
