Can you point out what I faked in these images? Curious how well I did. :)

The fourth is a grounded plane plastered on an image of a sky. Motion blur added to the prop. ( Its usually a dead give away when you don't have a pilot in the seat ) I have to look at the others more.

#1 - Big rock bottom right
#2 - The rock just below the sunset looks fake.
#3 - Tree stump on the far left? If not, the whole section of rock and tree that covers the left side of the photo.
#4 - Plane looks fake.. and it has no pilot

I can tell you,you did a hell of a job, except on the picture #4...The plane has no pilot, and it looks kinda fake..

I can't point out anything in the first 3 that is definitely 'wrong'. If I had to guess... #1 has strips the ocean burned in. #2 sky replacement? #3.. well, the mountains look out of place, but I try to find errors or seems and cannot. I'd say you did a great job with whatever it was you did.

#1: The moving water at the bottom is too white.... it doesn't have any colors picked up from the sky.

2-3 are good jobs

#4: The graphics & text on the plane have been added.

I think they look great, except #4. My guess from the dynamic range is that you did some exposure blending, but there's really no visible evidence of it, well done. The only thing that looks a little "off" to me is the dark edge of the mountain against the sky on the right of #2. Even that though, I only saw because I was looking for something. Well done  (just forget #4 :) )

cool thanks everyone for taking a look.

Yes #4 is pretty obvious, but I didnt think to add a pilot when I was putting it together!

I will upload the originals when I get home from work tonight. Thanks again!

1 the rocks look fake. if they arent they are still out of focus.
2 really dont know but you have horrbile halos around the tree and mountain.
3 looks fake. no way this shot is that crisp when one was out of focus.
4 lol. come on now.

1. Sky
2. Sky
3. Sky
4. The clouds.... ;)

#4, look at the shadow of the cloud & plane... no match ... and as mentioned above.. pilot is missing? or perhaps Radio Control plane..

#1, 2, 3 nicely done..

Sky in all of em, except #3, I think there's a whole lot of fake in #3

Thank you all for chiming in. I can definitely tell that thanks to the rock in the corner of the first picture no one should buy the Tamron 10-24 mm lens! If not at f/8 everything around the edges is soft and distorted to hell. :p

1 & 3
#1: swapped out the sky and then overlaid the reflections in the water as well. I did play around a bit with making the foam pinkish to match (as 480sparky noticed) but I couldnt get it to look right.
#3: shot from the same place two nights in a row (in the sky shot the tree in the lower left is the same one). And then overlaid them because I liked the valley clouds but the sky was just dragging the image down. The rock and tree look funny because they are actually about 30 ft apart with dead logs piled in between. Everything is compressed from the angle I was at though.

2 & 4
#2: For this one it ended up being a great sunset and I was stuck in a canyon. Found a good foreground with those rocks but just out of frame in front of them was a huge dead tree blocking the sky. I took the shot of the rocks and then moved my tripod over 20 ft for comp 2. Used the same tripod height / angle etc to minimize distortion problems (since well...big problem on that tamron lens). The grass on the edges blended together really well. Most of the haloing in the sky is because I botched the exposure and blew the red channel out. And a tad bit of HDR hand blending between the mountain and sky exposure.
#4: well yeah I forgot the pilot and everyone spotted this one right off. A bit of the grunge HDR look to the sky didnt help the realism. It was a red bull air racing display at EAA and I just photoshopped out the pillar.

I think #2 was the most impressive in terms of making a major addition totally changing a the original and making it much better. Although, its really hard to judge the editing job done based on small shots. The real test is when you zoom in a littleand then try to find the flaws. The good thing is, unless its a photo editor or something, most people will not seek out such trickery unless someone tells them that the image is a fake ( or unless it looks extremely faked )
