Photos NOT OK to edit
Hi,

I see that a lot photographers use Photoshop to edit Milky Way shots. I'm wondering what are the advantages of Photoshop over Lightroom for editing Milky Way shots? Is it because of the different layers and masks? Should it be used as a complement to Lightroom?

I use lightroom for the basic edits- white balance, lens corrections, etc., and then photoshop for most of the processing. I typically blend foreground frames that are multiple minutes long (sometimes focus stacking multiple foreground exposures) with my sky frames, which isn't possible with LR. Plus I feel like there is much more control in PS

I too use LR, then Photoshop.
Photoshop can do way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way more than LR can, and do it much more precisely.
LR is designed to be a compliment to Photoshop.

Thank you for taking the time to give your opinion on this. I'm thinking about getting PS that's why I'm asking.

If your getting PS then the best option is the CC photographer bundle with LR. I have CS4 and LR 5.6 as standalone products, but at some point will go with the CC package.
