I have notice a few people psing a sky into a picture that didnt have a nice sky in it. So my question is how often do you guys do this if you do it at all?

Give your definition of "PSing IN a sky"...

For my automotive photography, I've often taken up to 3 exposures but NOT done an HDR from them, rather combining each part that's exposed correctly, like the sky in one, the top of the car/background in another, and the front of the car/foreground from the last...then put them all together in PS via layer masks and such. Obviously done on a tripod.

With people or other moving subjects, OCF/Proper placement/simplify the background is my method. I've never "faked" a sky in a portrait.

Come to think of it, I've never "faked" a sky that wasn't there to begin with, just clever use of post processing the same scene.

My $0.02

Some people keep files of nice puffy clouds blue blue skys etc and use a masked layer. Youtube has tonnes of tutorials.

I have never ps'ed in a sky...yet. Mainly because I'm new to this. But guys I think he is just wondering how offen it is done, not how to do it. Just saying.

I use PP (not PS, cause thats racist lol) to fix blemishes, adjust colors, and crop photos to the desired framing...

I am not advanced enough to add or remove "stuff" like backgrounds or street signs, power lines or whatever.

I never added a sky either,

The only thing i do with the sky is add a little bit more contrast and i lover the exposure a little bit on it to make it "pop" a little.

For skies that you really just don't like it's a little more difficult and takes longer. For over exposed skies all you really have to do is layer the sky photo over the blown out sky in your main photo and set the sky layer to multiply. It makes it almost only show on the blown out sky. Then you can mask out anywhere the sky may stayed on the photo, or just erase it.

I pick and choose my battles, and today I'm the champion for reading comprehension!

like he said GOOGLE!!! 'how to replace sky in photoshop' - or something like that - here's a start ...

How to Replace the Sky with Quick Mask Using Photoshop

These guys do not get it.

This person has it.

I'll do it if necessary.

No no VI. I put when I did it in there. Those are the only two situations that I would replace a sky. I just put how I did it in there too.
