Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Despite a 20' mirror and three reminders to "check your hair" the client isn't happy with the bit of hair sticking out in the red box. I'm having some difficulty removing it and replacing it with a natural looking edit. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Clone tool was my first stop, however I`m not having much luck rebuilding a realistic "edge" to the hair with it.

I'd try copying a square of the grey background and pasting it to a new layer, then move it over top the large strand of hair that sticks out, use the eraser tool to erase portions of that new layer and "build" the edge of the hair by more or less revealing what is already underneath, might have to do a bit of airbrushing but that will hopefully do the trick.

To do it flawlessly, you will need to spend some time on it. Content aware it out, and then re draw with several layers and blending techniques, colors, etc... the natural looking edge back in. hopefully you have a wacom cintiq or something similar, because drawing hair with a mouse or track pad sucks. perhaps you can clone in from another area of the picture? or, have another picture from the set you can merge?

It does not look that hard to me, which leads me to guess that you're not cutting it back aggressively enough. Chop it back further than seems right, or further than seems rational, and see how it looks.

We tend to be zoomed in far for this kind of work, which makes deep edits feels completely crazy.

I mainly used the rubber stamp tool, only used clone to clean out the red box... I've showed the history so you can get an idea of how little steps it took:

If I was actually doing it, I'd copy the edge of her hair from the other side and blend it in so it actually looked realistic.

You always have the answer Derrel!

You mean there are people who don't have a Wacom????? Thanks - that's sort of where I'm going. "Half-ass" is NOT an option in my book.

Good point!

That's much like I was getting; unfortunately the other side isn't any use; it's a highlighted ringlet sort of look... :(

I'd prefer not to as this is a client who is rather private.

$Hair copy.webp

Added hair to the 'vacant' area between the marked strand and on the right image,
cloned out the strands and brushed lightly some strands on the edges copying the color of the hair with the eyedropper.

I dont think blurring can solve this matter, as the client needs the perfect product!

I think you guys are close, might I also suggest using a textured brush to replace the texture to the background where it has been "smoothed" by the cloning process?
