The light on his right eye bothered me at first, but I've grown to like it. Is it possible to remove that sort of thing in photoshop? Also, what sort of lens would help to reduce such glare? Thanks, and any other comments on the picture are appreciated.

I think the dog is slightly out of focus/ blurry in this photo. Maybe you don't mind it but some photographers will.

The dog's expression is nice, but I think you can do better.

I agree. the dog is out of focus.
To get rid of the lens flare, you could try a lens hood.

The dog is out of focus. His tongue got cropped off. Crop is way too close. There is that huge lens flare.

But as long as you like your own photo, all is well ...
