Piers

I went to visit a friend Friday night and decided to get a sunset on the way so I Google Earthed some possible pier locations within a reasonable driving distance of me and found a gigantic old pier just over an hours drive away. It was so big it looked like an old dock and the satellite view showed parts of it where destroyed. I knew there was a Aviation Museum at the small airport it was adjacent to but didn't know anymore about it. I was a little bit lost as to why I couldn't find a single Image of such a beautiful old dock anywhere on the Internet though..I set off anyway pulling up on the coast nearby to go for a walk along the beach. I arrived by a huge fence at the shore that lead about 50 metres into the ocean just a couple of hundred metres from the dock with a sign reading "Trespassers will be Prosecuted!" Usually this doesn't worry me but the fact it stated it was an Air force Base kind of made me think twice about attempting to climb it.
I refused to admit defeat so I headed round the entrance to ask somebody what I could do to get permission to photograph it.
Ironically I pulled up next to a giant sign almost the size of my car stating "Strictly no Photography." I was greeted by a rather friendly Gaurd. He was nice about the whole thing but said there was no chance and warned me that people have been caught trying to get on the pier before and have been awarded a $37,000 fine.
I settled with the remnants of #1 less than a few hundred metres away.
Then on the way home the following night I fluked #2 after refuelling and noticing a pier road sign right next to me while giving way to traffic
These where both done with a Big Stopper which I brought myself last week

and a .6GND.

Nice shots. How do you like that big stopper so far? You can use Lightroom or other editors to correct the Vignetting on your pictures. First pix has blue cast which you can adjust/remove in PP.

I love the first one too. the detail in the wood planks and how you aligned the end of pier posts with the horizon.
2nd one is great too.

Love 'em both, waiting. The first one has a wonderful album cover / dark movie feel to it. #2 is a wall hanger w/out question.

Thanks heaps everyone!
As for the Big Stopper I love it. It's so hard to get the exposure right with changing light conditions it's adds a great challenge to my landscapes.
I do know you can remove the vignetting and I have removed a little. The more you remove post the more detail you loose so plus I liked the look.
Also I removed most of the blue colour cast you should have seen it beforehand lol they both came out completed blue. I don't think people realise just how crazy blue it sends your Images.
