Pigeon Invasion

A man watching the most amount of pigeons I've ever seen in one place.

Looks like a cloudy midday shot? Diffused shadows right below the pigeons makes me want to move to the UK to shoot during this time of year :thumbup:

The components in the shot are actually very partial - a partial man, a partial bench a partial flock but I think it works. I keep staring at his face..rather sad mood IMO. Reminds me of the nostalgic scene in the final page of the short story "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein where he's reached a point where life takes more then it gives.

The shot's composition could be better but the mood trumps that. I like it.

Thank you, I was going to take another shot slightly further away to frame the man and the pigeons slightly better but he noticed me which ruined the mood, stupid loud shutter. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out though, I still can't decide whether it would have been better with a bigger aperture to get the pigeons in focus.

I think having him in focus more then the pigeons tells a better story. The pigeons are only slightly OOF to where you can still tell what they are anyways. The separation is what makes me stare at the man and the man's ordeal is what sets the mood.
