Unlike the Canon bridge cameras, the P500 doesn't have any threads in or on the lens barrel. The lens completely compacts flush to the body when you turn the camera off or go to full wide angle. I did see a tube like system that slides over the 1st section of the lens. Just keep in mind that if you forget to remove it before you go to full wide angle or turn the camera off, you can easily damage the zoom motor.
 
Ya i have came to a relization and its.not worth the 25-30$
