I have a question about sensors. I want to buy a high quality video camera to film in 4k 50P or 60P . Many cameras are advertised as having a 6k sensor but will film in 4k. It seems to me that using a 6k sensor for 4k is going to give less sharpness than a 4k sensor, because 6k can't be divided evenly by 4k so many pixels will overlap giving reduced definition. Can anyone convince me that this is not the case?

Perhaps in video mode, it will only record 4k of pixels. In other words, 'crop' to the central 4k of pixels.

That sounds possible. But that would reduce the width of the picture making it more "telephoto" which I doubt it does?

My Sony does exactly that.... 'zooms in' when switching from photo to video.

Sounds to me like the 6k is more interpreted, or virtual pixels that the camera AI is inserting and video is recording too many frames per second to do that. So, in video it's capturing at its actual resolution of 4k.

But I could be wrong, often am.
