Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum and I really think it's pretty awesome to be involved in a photography community! :)

So I'm planning to buy a new lens with better zoom performance..i got 18-55mm lens kit and have seen AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR reviews but it's a little bit confusing..I'm wondering if anyone got it and list to me the pros and cons of it??

thanks guys for the help! :D

What about the reviews that you read are confusing? Although I don't know if you'll get any more information then what you've read. I guess again it all depends on where you went for the reviews.

I've been looking for something similar and people have been recommending the Nikkor AF-S 70-300. But I have a Nikkor 18~105 lens, and not the 18~55.

I'd like to know what people think of the Nikkor 55/70~300 and how they compare.

The 70-300mm is bigger than the 55-300mm and weighs more.

70-300mm focuses faster.

70-300mm uses 67mm filters, so it would use the same filter as your 18-105mm.

The 55-300mm uses 58mm filters, so it won't share filters with either the 18-55mm or 18-105mm.

The 70-300mm can be used on a full frame camera, while the 55-300mm is only a DX lens.

I just bought the 70-300mm because reviews say it is better optically and I also like the M/A mode so I can correct focus if I want. It also has active VR.

The 55-300mm is similar to the 55-200mm vr, but with the extra reach.
