My friend was actually using those setups for his film project....i couldn't resist snapping some photos and catching how awesome the lighting was.

I think the first composition is fabulous! In the second shot, IMO, the harsh lighting on his shirt splits the viewer's attention and confuses the image a bit. I think the third shot would have worked except for the spotlight effect on his head. It reduces the effect of the shadowing of his face and takes away from the overall suspense of the scene. Just my personal opinion, though. I still like the shots, I just think that there might have been too many light sources in the last two. If you could photoshop the lighting a bit, they would match the first one!
