Playing with Tints

Okay, so three versions of the same image.

This one has a subtle green tint that I created in PS.




This one also has a green tint, but it's more obvious. I used a texture to create this tint, so it also has a bit of a weathered thing going on.




And here is the B&W version with no tint.




Obviously, I'd like your opinions on the tints, but anything else you have to say is appreciated.

I prefer the third. Not opposed to tint, but the green doesn't add anything for me.

I think each one has some good qualities about it. I personally like the second and third shots. I do not mind tinted B&W, but I know a lot of people find tinted B&W to be irritating, for some reason....never have understood the prejudice against the green or blue tints.

Thanks, Derrel! I don't usually tint B&W shots, but I'm not opposed to it. Just felt like trying something different this time.

Sorry to be off topic but if you read the title to quickly or incorrectly it has a completely differnt meaning.

I like the straight B&W image.

I know you didn't ask for critique on anything else, so forgive me if this is unwarranted, but something looks off about her eyes to me.

Like you took a white paint brush and straight up painted over all the whites at a high opacity or something. Maybe it's just the compression, but something looks unnatural about her eyes.

No, I did nothing to them, besides a little sharpening. However, I did convert this in Photoshop and there was some slider tweaking involved, so I may have pushed the blue slider a bit too far. That can make the eye whites too bright. I'll have to check and see if that is what it is. Thanks for pointing it out!

Yeah, no problem! It could be nothing. It may be the way Photobucket is compressing the image. who knows. :shrugs: LOL

The second one. It is not about the tint for me, it's because it looks more "etheral" (is it the right term n English ?), ad the contrast appears to be lowered compared to the third one, e.g.
