Please Help A Complete Noob Buy His First Grown Up Camera...

Please do keep us all updated what you got at the end and how happy you are with it.

OK, I am now the proud owner of a brand new Nikon D5100.

Seems wrong somehow to take a picture of it with my Canon Powershot.

I'm still learning the basics of operating it. In the course of testing shutter speed I figured out if I turn the flash OFF on my old Powershot it is actually pretty good at catching the action. Seems shutter speed isn't what makes most digitals slow but the flash feature. Live and learn.

Regardless, even WITH the flash feature the D5100 is dramatically faster. I've got a lot of reading and practice shooting in front of me and then I'll probably have a ton of questions.

I appreciate you guys getting me this far.
