The yellow from the slide is bouncing back on his skin, I would suggest shooting somewhere else.

What, exactly, do you need help with?

Skin tone? You want the green collar purple? You want the slide blue?

^This. It will help if you give more information about what you'd like to change about the color in this photo.

Also, all the color changes in the world won't bring back that poor boy's fingers.

Skin tone... and I absolutely learned my lesson with the yellow slide. Please help me fix the skin tone... and I will never shoot on the slide for a color image again...thanks!!!

Select the skin areas, then dial down the yellow. How this is done depends on your editing software.

And hopefully you shot this in raw so you'll have a reasonable chance of success.

I don't see a lot of cast, but the image may be over saturated and a tad bit warm (not a bad thing). All I did was desaturated all colors by 30% and mask out the slide.

Ok Sm4him.... I know I performed an unauthorized amputation... oopsy, but I fortunately have an image almost identical but framed a little more in that direction that I am going to perform editing surgery and reconnect those tiny digits. Of course a lot of work I could have avoided. And Charlie, I am having such trouble with flash... it looks so fake and harsh, but I will..WILL practice. I am so insecure when taking others pics and I get so nervous.

Flash would have prevented this....

Exactly the way it is presently lit, any attempt to remove the cast will look unnatural. You best bet is to to to lessen the effect, rather than try to remove it.

Use it in manual mode on the body and use the guide number settings on the flash... very accurate. After you do it a while, it is fast also. You just change distance by changing your aperture. If there is a certain aperture you want to use.. you can either change flash power, or ISO, or flash distance from subject. Not hard to figure out. It is all linear in nature....

Part of the problem is that I don't have a "real" flash. I am using a $60 flash I purchased from walmart. Do you recommend a beginner flash? I am shooting with a canon xs, but any day I am upgrading to a 7d. I have saved the money, I am just afraid to actually bite the bullet. I see you shoot nikon... but thought you still may have an idea.

What brand is the flash you bought? If it has guide number charts or menus.. it will work! A flash is a flash! At $60, I guarantee it is a Manual Only flash... no TTL. You have to LEARN to use it.. it won't work automatically.

Why are you upgrading? A new camera won't give you better photos.. it will just give more options you will need to learn how to use! I don't think you have outgrown your current camera.. do you think so?

Oh.. and DON'T buy photo gear at Wal-mart... lol!
