I'm not following you. Are you suggesting that the road is begging for a faster limit?

I have occasionally driven to a nice piece of pavement with the express intention of exceeding the posted limit, but frankly, this is not the kind of road I would speed on anyway.

Hitting one of those road side telephone poles or trees at 45 mph would put a damper on your day.
The way road cars are designed today, and assuming you know how to wear the lap/shoulder seat belt properly, you would likely be OK from the waist up.
From the legs down it will depend on the angles and what part of the car first hits the tree.

Many don't appreciate that the magnitude of the forces generated in a collision result from the speed at which the collision occurs.
As speed increases, force increases as a square factor .
Double the speed, the forces quadruple - 4x - they don't double.
If you're going 4 times faster the forces are multiplied by 16x.
