Point n shoot

What would be your preferred point n shoot if you had US$300-400? There is a whole bunch of 'em at dpreview and I don't know where to start. This is actually for a friend of mine.

I tried one of the Olympus cameras in that price range and it looked pretty high quality considering the price/the fact that it's a point and shoot.

That may be a good place to start...

i have the minolta z1 the best zoom ever put on a digital camera 3 or more megapix but all around the best camera on the market
