I sat here for a good minute or so and tried to pinpoint what was really missing.
I think I have decided that at least IMO, there is not enough constrast in the photograph. Though the subject is well posed, the fur on the bear is already white, and then the only background that is showing (the tiny 5% in the upper left hand corner) is also a slightly darker shade of white. Therefore, everything tends to blend in with one another.
If you chose a better background, this could have a lot of potential. If you put a black boarder in here, it might already help because the border itself will give a small contrast and help pull those darker whites even darker.
Its a great shot idea, and I would love it if the contrast were greater.
