Poll to see how Camera and phone brands line up.

I want to know how peoples affiliation with phone OSs and Camera brands line up. I know it's probablly inevitable but it's not a Canon vs. Nikon thread here because that's been done to death. I just want to know if either of these brands can be grouped.

I don't see the pertinence.... I am using a company issued Iphone, I would prefer an Android if I had a choice. I do shoot Nikon! (and I NEVER use my stupid cell phone camera for anything more than recording something for documentation when needed.)

I don't see a definitive category for me.
My phone is not a smartphone (Android, iOS, nor even Palm), but then it only needs to make voice phone calls to keep me happy! I guess I'll have to vote "Other."
I have a couple of Nikons, but my oldest camera is a Minolta, so I guess I can vote "Other" for that, too.

Perhaps the poll should be about which of these brands you would PREFER to use, since, as Charlie mentions, sometimes we don't *primarily* use what we would prefer. Many people have phones issued to them by their employer and those are their "primary" phones. I could also see a few instances where someone who works for a photography company (like the guy who just took 12,000 photos in a week; who was that? fjrabon?) and so the camera they *primarily* use isn't necessarily the one they prefer.

I suspect that there is absolutely no correlation at all between preferred camera brand and preferred phone brand, but it's at least an interesting poll, instead of the usual "which lens to buy," "is this camera better than that camera" kind of questions. I hope you get enough votes to see a pattern, if there is one to be seen (which I doubt).

It's quite early yet but so far, the only trend I see is that Canon users don't answer polls.

Maybe I should have worded it like "for person business" instead of "primarily use" I know people who have a work smartphone and their own smartphone. Sorry there is no option for dumbphones.

Sorry that you're having so much trouble with it. Just your phone! the one you use primarily. iPad is not a phone. iPhone is a phone.

Great poll idea. I know others will nit-pick to death, but it is an interesting study nonetheless.

My initial inclination was Nikon + iOS would be the highest correlation, based on the assumptions I have around Nikon + iPhone users. Looks like, so far, I'm right!

I think my wife's copy of SSPS is still valid.

The way you'd actually do this is you'd have a questionnaire with two questions:

What camera brand do you use:
1) Nikon
2) Canon
3) Sony
4) Fuji
5) Leica
6) Pentax
7) Other

What mobile phone platform do you use:
1) Android
2) iOS
3) Other
4) None/Dumbphone

Then you'd Chi Square the cross tabs, that way you don't run into the issue of having more Nikon or Canon users than any other camera brand throwing off the correlation.
