Portrait - Comments Please

I did this of my son today and would like some input on these..same photo, 3 variations. Could I do something to make it better? Does it look good composition wise as it is? Which of the b/w do you like better?

The gaps in the fence are a bit distracting. I like the 2nd b/w.

i actually like the gaps in the fence as it makes the bg interesting.. makes me wonder what is behind it lol

I like the third because of the vignette. The first two look like they could be cropped a little closer...especially on the top...but the vignette really helps.
There does seem to be a lot of space around him...but I think it would look really good (the way it is) in a frame.
