I understand what your saying,I just dont like it when the head is cropped off not matter how great the photographer is.

Personal tastes aren't really relevant in a C+C.

Personal taste is usually what you will recieve from asking for C&C. So in that sense, it is relevant. The eye of the beholder sort of thing. Some are formed around the foundations and some are what affects the viewer. You can't discount one without discounting the other. They are all valid to some degree. Just because you deem their view repugnant, doesn't invalidate their option to voice why something is amiss in the photo for them.

I don't have an issue with cropping the top of the subjects head, but listening with both ears from the feedback is why you've asked for C&C.

I do listen to the feedback, but personal tastes should not have a weight on your critique.
If you don't like black and white photography all together then why critique a black and white photograph? And if you do critique a black and white photograph,
the fact that you dislike black and white photography should not effect the critique. Sure, it's all relative and subjective and you can make an argument that
opinion is opinion whether it's personal taste or technical critique, but I do believe that there is a line somewhere. Disliking a genre, or style of photography
shouldn't disallow you from critiquing an image, but the fact that you dislike said style or genre all together and admitting so takes away from your critique,
does it not?

I like B+W portraits. I rarely do portraits in color anymore.

I like it better with the background artifacts, I think OP is good enough to know that they justify the landscape orientation and add to the image. Top of the head cut off doesn't bother me, I don't usually do it myself but it works for lots of people, so why not? The bits in and out of focus I'm not sure about and they thus make me think... And the super sharp eyes do make me wonder if his name is Damian ( )

On the whole I like the image, it has impact. The bits that some find odd seem to have been deliberate. Artists do things like that to see what happens. It got some discussion going and that's got to be a good thing! :thumbup:

Wow! Really? Of course it's relevant because I'm an awesome photographer and you suck. My "comment" (you know, the first C of C+C) was that in my awesomely experienced and all-knowing judgment, it seems too processed, making it totally suck. Of course art is subjective and I just may be wrong. :salute:

Because if you would post the original, we could help you figure out where you went wrong.

And if you are only doing B&W portraits due to the luck you had with that one biker shot... you are limiting yourself unnecessarily. But that is your call!

I listen to feed back very well, the difference is, I don't listen to condescending morons who think they own photography.

The Biker shoot was lucky, and not because I had anything to do with it.
