The hot spot on the cap bothers me but I just learned to look past it.

well, if the hot spot bothers you so much, it would be quite easy to drastically tone down, if not outright remove?
 
forehead reflection distracts too much!..otherwise nice shot.
 
I'm sure there must be a reason for the black areas on each side but I don't know what it is.

This could be someone just about to get into a tanning booth, or a very young welder
 
I think that if there was a pool in the background this would be a great shot. Not that this is ad as it is.
 
I took some advice and toned down the hot spot. I didn't want to outright remove it thought.

Yeah, seems a bit better. You can tell it's been done (since the similar, but markedly smaller, hotspot at the top wasn't also toned down). But really only a photographer would notice that in the first place. The visual impact of the image is a bit better, I think.
