Sleist, I find myself staring at this and my eyes keep running up and down the length of the image. And the longer I stare, the more I like it Love the creamy blur and how nothing is straight, and yet there is still a graphic, repetitive pattern. And the top part when the main stem starts curving back towards the left of the frame helps ease some of the tension caused by all the right-leaning of the bottom half. Nicely done!

Thanks limr! Took this shot a couple weeks ago and realized I had shot the same plant 2 years before. This is from a place near me call "Garden in the Woods". I tried to process in such a way as to enhance the contrast between the wire and the plant bark. I like how it turned out - much better than my earlier attempt. Thanks again.

I tried to answer your question this morning and deleted the reply.
I'm not sure what it is you want to know. And worse off, I'm not sure I know what to say that might actually be of any use to you - or anyone else.

Are you interested in the programs I use? My monochrome conversion philosophy? The perfect amount of alcohol to ingest prior to processing?
My approach is spontaneous and unplanned. I approach each photo differently and my decisions are as much a function of my mood as anything else. I really have no clue what I should be doing. I just do what seems to work for me - and the photo of course. And I get it wrong as much as right me thinks ...

If I were to say anything was a definite requirement it would be the dodge/burn tool in CS6 and my Wacom.

If you really want me to show off my lack of knowledge I will try. Just let me know what you are interested in knowing.

you've just answered the huge part of my question dodge and burn tool (invasive or on a soft light layer? your settings for dodge and bur brush?) and this is the second time I hear that Wacom is a must. I believe it is, but I don't have it yet

you have a distinct way of processing your photos in bw. It's beautiful, clean, memorable. I understand that you use dodge and burn to enhance contrast between lighter parts and darker parts but what else do you do when editing? Do you process in color and then convert to bw after almost everything is done? Is there something you do with every of your photos?

1. Though I may mention I use certain programs, what I do can really be done using a variety of tools. This is just the routine I fell into.
2. I can tell you the tools I use, but I can't tell you how to use them. What is the difference between enough and too much of something? I can't tell you that. It's something you will need to decide on your own and that is really the piece that makes or breaks the edit. So all this is really kind of pointless.
3. I like you so I'm doing it anyway despite it being absolutely no use to you or anyone else.
4. Donald Trump is an embarrassment.
5. Can I move to Canada? I promise to behave myself.
6. Yoga pants!
7. What's in the box?!!!
8. I'm gonna go play Dark Souls 3 for a while. I'll answer after I die a few dozen times.
