I recently made the switch to shooting RAW and am really diving into processing my shots more. I just got back from a trip to Costa Rica and I have a lot of wildlife photos that were shot under pretty bad lighting conditions in primary rainforest (dark, back lit, subject far away). I'm trying to recover some of these the best I can via post-processing. So far, I've been using Capture NX 2, but I also have LR 5. I started with Capture NX 2 because it preserves the in camera settings so the colors are closer to what I was getting when shooting jpegs and thus needed less tweaking.
Here are three shots that I have had to bring up shadows, adjust exposure, and crop along with the original unedited versions. I would love some feedback on how I could improve the post-processing!
Capuchin Monkey
This one required the most cropping and editing but I liked the content enough I need to try.

Hummingbird
This is also heavily cropped and a bit noisy.
