All these shots were taken at Exotics Racing in Las Vegas (I actually drove a couple of these beasts!). Please give me your comments about the technique employed and suggestions... All pictures taken with a Sony SLT-A77V with a SAL70300G lens...

Now, I know I should have left more room at the front of the car, but I did not catch alll of them with enough room to edit that way, and I am printing these out to put them in my son's room (at his request), so I tried to keep them more or less in the same scale...

Well done.. Back blurred & wheels blurred w crispy car

Rags

Nice shots. As noted above, the wheels and background are nicely blurred and the cars are sharp. I think your son is going to be really happy to have those up in his room.

Not bad. Now it's time to start experimenting with slowing down further.

You can still get nice and sharp if you're shooting slow. It's not as easy as shooting at 1/100, but it's most definitely possible. Movement in the frame is more exciting, and if you have a boring background it's easier to neutralize with the right amount of blur. I'll post some in the other panning thread so we don't jack the OPs thread.

Hope your son enjoys them!

*Something you probably haven't thought of; when they're older they'll want Playboy centerfolds on the wall...

So you may be shooting nudes in the future.... :)

Now TEHRE's something to look forward to... "Sorry, honey; I did not WANT to take these pictures, but our son NEEDS them!"

Feel free to post them here; as my signature says, my intention is to learn!

I do have to try other shooting techniques for cars, as always shooting panning can make everything look the same... But I did not want to let an opportunity like this go to waste. By the way, I started in the 1/300's, and then kept pushing back until I got to 1/100th of a second. I guess I could have tried slower, but I figured these were good enough (not to mention, for each good shot, I have about 15 or 20 bad ones!).

When I do any kind of race weekend I usually have several thousand to sift through afterwards, haha.
