Practicing with my 3 year old.

I took these photos midmorning yesterday still using my Nikon P90. I am trying to experiment and become more familiar with settings and adjustments while I'm saving up for my first dslr.

The sun was extremely harsh at this location but I tried to work "with" the shadows as much as I thought possible.

When shooting in harsh light (and no assistant on hand), I wear a white shirt to act as a reflector. It works well, especially when the subjects are kids (they are small enough that the reflector doesn't need to be huge, to at least light the face.

It's cheap, convenient and it works!

Thanks! That never even crossed my mind, but I can totally see how that would help. My son is a "busy body" ( as most 3 years olds) and its normally impossible to shot him in low lighting with the shutter speed being where it needs to be.

Ha ha! You couldn't be more right ! My luck, This shot was only one of the few that he actually looked at the camera.

Why thank you! I learned this (accidentally) by wearing a red shirt one day and my baby was pink in all her photos.
