Hey guys, here are a couple of my favorite shots of mine during my stay in Milan. 'Tram 19' was Christmas morning 2001 in Milan and 'A Prague Winter' was taken on the Saint Charles Bridge a week later. The Prague morning was as cold as it appears...

I'll be posting more of my black and white collection from Europe as time goes by.

Enjoy!

The second image is very Henri cartier Bresson, It looks like you waited for someone to come along and fill that section of the frame. I like it.

The first one I also quite like, but the DOF at the bottom I find quite distracting.. It would have been nicer in my opinion if you could have the front of the image sharp as well. I guess a wider apeture would have sorted that.. but it's a personal opinion..

I really like them both, but especially the second one!

Nice work here,

Although both compositions could've been worked better (maybe not) but this is one of the best B&W tone quality i've seen recently.

could you share with us your PS work flow on these shots???

thanks in advance,
Trombone

Very nice! I love both of them! Good job!

Good comments.

Background:
Camera: Borrowed Bronica from the early 70's – separate manual light meeter
Conditions: Very cold.

I agree, If I had to shoot them again, I might have had less DOF in Milan and less blur in Prague, but I guess I was just pleased that, despite the conditions and camera, they came out as nice as they did. Good critiques though.

NOTE: In Prague, I was working on the comp of the bridge statue and the cityscape when I saw the man with the umbrella coming... much scrambling ensued trying to get a good composition with him in it... did I mention it was freaking cold?

Love them both.

The tram is great I love High contrast photos though. I personally like the DOf in the foreground. It doesn't take anything from the Tram/ Subject matter.

The second I like the look of the blur on the man. It creates a sense of urgency like the guy wants to get to where he is going. It adds human interest.

both great shots.

It was actually much colder in Prague that morning. That was a rare snow in Milan and was just below freezing and slushy... What we do for art...

you muist have been freezing doing the tram one, which I like very mcuh btw.

Both are beautiful. I like the tram pic the best, and I enjoy the low perspective and the forground out of the DOF.

Thanks! Prague has to be my favorite of the cities I was able to see while in Europe. Absolutely gorgeous.

Stay tuned, I have more Prague pics coming!
