Mommyphotog,
thanks for being so pleasant.
everything below this line is my opinion and may be totally pompous bs so read at your own risk.

I think that a different crop of this picture shows a lot.
I think (and I'm certain that someone knowledgeable has documented this) that the eye and the mind get
lots of even contradictory messages about a picture below the conscious level and that they get sorted out to produce the overall impression.
Among those messages are.
I'm in a powerful spot, look at me
I'm bright, look at me
I'm in focus look at me.
I'm close to the edge, I'm not important.
I'm whole, the photographer included me, so I must have some importance
We are very aware consciously of the first two but I think the others affect our perceptions
When this picture is cropped, some things that were annoying before seem to fade in importance a bit; because they're at the edge or partially trimmed off
the 'important' flower seems even more prominent because it's in a powerful spot.
notice that the OOF flower in the front isn't so important, it seems more like a counterpoint to the one it's partially hiding and one looks right past it to the important flower in the powerful spot.
Does this make sense?
