Printing on CD/DVD's

Hello,
I am a new owner of a Canon Pro-100 printer and I was wondering how I can get the best quality image printed on a disk? Do you have any suggestions as to what kind of labels print well or, what cd brands have professional printable disk? I don't want to mess up my printer head or waste ink, suggestions are appreciated.

Not sure about "professional" printable disks
I prefer white inkjet printable with a 23mm centre hole.
There are some DVD's that have a 36mm centre hole and this is a lot less flexible when it comes to designs.
The white surfaces give a more vibrant colour - and so more impact - for me anyway.
I'm currently using Verbatim disks - I'm happy with them.
Not sure what disk design software you are using. Mine allows for fine-tuning of the placement of the design so that it is dead centre.
Also comes with plenty of features for text / text effects / tiling / photo placement etc

Does your printer have a disc tray? In North America, I believe that only HP (or is it Lexmark?) printers have the disc tray, because they have the North American patent on it. But that is not the case in the rest of the world, so Canon likely makes a disc tray for your printer, you would just have to get it from somewhere else.

I used to use the peel & stick labels, but it just didn't seem very professional.

Now I use a Lightscribe burning drive. It has it's limitations, mainly that it only creates monotone images and it's dreadfully slow. I takes 20-30 minutes for one burn, and it's not usually dark enough after one burn, so I like to run it 2 or 3 times on each disc. So I'm usually looking at 90 minutes per disc. It can run in the background, but I have to be there to start it after every burn.

I do have a disk tray for my printer but, my printer normally works pretty fast I just haven't used it print on CD's yet because I'm trying to find the right disk.

I've had good luck with several Epson ink jet printers that can also print directly to CDs. And yes, they have disk trays that must be used. Printing time to CDs, even when I put pictures on them, is 2-3 minutes each. So I have 2 identical printers to cut my overall time in half when making 50 or so at a time.

For CDs, I buy whatever is cheapest "white inkjet printable CD-R" at Amazon. I've dealt with several retailers other than Amazon and for my typical 1200 CDs + sleeves order, I've found the best per/cd prices are at Amazon...subject to free shipping, of course.

I also have an HP printer that can print directly to CDs as well...and it has a tray, too!
