Printing Photos (Need a good printer)

So i need a really good printer that will produce some great photography prints, I hear Epson is really good but could use a couple of opinions as on which ones are the best.

Or you could just have them off to have them professionally printed. It's not very expensive and they will be on professional grade paper. That will save you money on a printer and ink.

I dont really have a budget in mind, but id be willing to spend enough money if the printer was worth it.

Well, if your only going to print an occassional image it will be cheaper and easier to take it some place and just have it done.

If you want to learn to print and love the process then you have to think of , dye printer, pigment ink printer. Largest size print you will be making, types of paper you want to use. Do you want to print just color or black and white as well?

At one time HP made a great photo printer the 9180 but I don't think you can find those any more.

I would start looking at the Epson's 2880 and go up from there. I think Epson's has a rebate on the R3000 which brings it more in line with the 2880

Don’t forget about the cost of print cartridges they can be very expensive, when you buy a new printer ask about this!
Supplied are always some demo cartridges that will give you a few prints, so don’t only look at the price of the printer itself.

The cost of ink is certainly involved, however, I have never purchased a printer that didn't come with cartridges that are full. In fact I have bought printers on sale just for the ink as it was cheaper in the long run.

There are the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 & 9500 printers which are supposed to be good as well.

I recommend Canon,PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II and for lower budget Canon PIXMA iP2700.

Yeah but when I shoot someone I shoot them with a Canon and everyone thinks I'm a bad arse pirate. When you shoot someone with a Nikon it sounds like some gangster rap term that nobody understands... I'll take being a pirate over a gansta rapper any day.

How big the largest print you antisipate you would want to print will also determine which printer to recommend.

Another consideration is how long you would want the prints to last before the inks/dyes begin to fade/discolor. 5 years? 50 years? 200 years?

Pirates didn't use canons, they used cannons... and since there are no cannon using pirates anymore (they prefer rifles) rappers took on the term cannon in slang for the term handgun/firearm.
