Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hello all,
Sorry if this seems like a ridiculous question, but I'm a bit confused on ordering prints. I'm ordering from Mpix.com. But I'm not quite sure what size paper to choose. Won't the wrong ratio of the paper distort my image? Like if I order a 10x10 and the image isn't square, then it will ruin the image, correct?
Sorry if I'm not being clear.
Thanks for the help :)

Mpix and the other more professional labs won't "distort" the image. They will crop it.

You should crop your image to the size you want to print it then you won't have to worry about the lab cropping or anything :)

What if I want the image exactly the way it is?
And how do I do that and know it will fit the paper properly?

In photoshop with the image open, go to edit>image size ... When the little pop up box opens up, it will tell you the current inch dimensions of the image.

If it says 38x40, then print it 38x40 if you want to lol.. If not, then change the dimensions to whatever you want them to be (keep your proportions constrained though or it will distort the image) or use the crop tool and enter values in the width and height boxes that come up at the top of your window.

Thank you for the help :) But do you know how to do that in Lightroom 3? I don't have photoshop...

In LR3, I don't know how to tell what the current dimensions of the photo are... :/

However, the cropping goes the same way... Kind of..

When you go into the crop tool, click on the drop down box that says "Original" and either choose a preset size or enter a custom size :) Then when you go to crop the image, LR will constrain proportions to the size you chose.
