Hello.

So, i have to make a poster for an event. Size of the poster must be 60 x 80 cm.
What canvas size should i use and what DPI.
I'd like to stay as small as possible, without suffering any quality.

THANK YOU!

You have never made a poster? And the first poster you need to make is for an actual event? I'd try print shops. Smaller local ones are cheap usually.

((Tegelt ka ei ole.. Minu PS oskustes ei ole vaja kahelda. Lihtsalt pole nii suurte asjade printimisega kokku puutunud.))

I have alot of experience in digital paintings, as iv'e never done anything so called "real stuff".
I'm gonna do it myself, because i have to.

*Did some research, and found out that 300 dpi is not neccessary on larger posters. 200 should be enough. 4724 x 6299 px, 200 dpi -is that ok?

How will the poster be reproduced? By offset printing in CMYK, as inkjet prints in RGB, or as chromogenic prints also in RGB?

Will the file be a vector or raster graphics file type?

DPI is a print (output) device resolution. In Photoshop the Document size resolution is stated in PPI, not DPI, because you will be making an input file.
DPI (dots per inch, or cm) and PPI (pixels per inch, or cm) are not the same thing, because it takes several dots to print a pixel.
The pixel dimensions of your poster and the document size resolution determine print size.

Your best move is to contact the company that will be printing the poster to find out what file types, color spaces, and their recommended document size resolution (ppi).

4724 x 6299 px, 200 dpi -is that ok?
It should be. We can't say for certain without seeing the final poster image.
