Problems with picture quality/ shutter speed

Invest in a beginners class at your local photography store to clear up the very basics.

Landscape might be the color 'style'.

I agree that it seems that you are perhaps using AV in a dark situation, or perhaps a lens that doesn't have the speed you need for very low light. Could you tell us more about the situation and what it was you were trying to shoot?

Perhaps, the landscape mode reviews to one of those icons on the programing dial, so he is not in auto, program, av, tv modes, but in a menu mode which is not giving him the results he is looking for. On the other hand, I would think landscape mode would be using f8 or f11, which would only increase the shutter speed.

Anyway, the op needs to re-check just what they have dialed in before any other help could be valuable.

Thanks for all the input guys the major problem I was having was with the autofocus which I dont really care for. I prefer using manual focus because itgives me more control. here are a few pics from shots I've been taking down near the Light House.

Remind us what's the problem with these.. is your AF unable to lock on to the sea/horizon? Is it hunting for focus?

The problem wasn't with the 3 pictures above but the first picture i posted on the first page as well as a few others I took. The camera wasn't focusing and would continue to read busy, i assume because the iso was either under or over the amount of exposure. For some reason when im using auto focus it takes a while to even get one picture with it in dark or light conditions.
