Professional Sports and Events File Type?

Just watching the World Baseball Clasic and I was thinking to myself. When professionals shoot events like this would they shoot in raw? Or when a wedding photographer shoots 1000's of images do they still shoot in raw?

I always shoot in raw, I was jut wondering about post editing in raw with 1000's if images? I guess right?

I wouldn't be surprised if they shot in raw + large jpeg, using the jpeg routinely and raw for the backup if a difficult lighting situation exists or there is a need for more involved PPing.

For sports each photographer shoots differently. When there is a photo editor working with them generally everyone shoots jpegs simply for the speed required to get the images out.

.jpg for me for sports with good preparation before hand. Getting it right on the front end makes it a whole lot easier and editors a whole lot happier.
