Pros and Cons?

A bridge camera is a compact camera thats too large to fit into a pocket, yet its more expensive than an entry level DSLR.

I view bridge cameras as utterly superflous, except if they are specific purpose.

Entry level DSLRs just like bridge cameras require a backpack to move. However:

- Entry level DSLRs are much cheaper
- Entry level DSLRs can change lenses
- Entry level DSLRs have much better controls
- Entry level DSLRs have much faster operating speed
etc

There really is no good reason for the existence of bridge cameras, except aforementioned special purpose, for example:

- The Ricoh GR has an APS-C sized sensor (same as entry level DSLR) and a very high quality 28mm f2.8 equivalent wide prime lens. Ideal for social photography.

- The Nikon P900 is a 24-2000mm equivalent superzoom. Personally I think a 400-2000mm equivalent would make much more sense, but still - 2000mm is impressive.

Most of what you said there about cost is just not correct

There are 2 links of cheaper than entry dslrs, and there are plenty cheaper than these ones

Cost was only one of my arguments, and yes of course I was talking about the high quality bridge cameras like the Canon G<n> ones.

Those which have a remote chance of challenging the quality of an entry level DSLR.

Those cameras you linked are brutally optimized for cheapness.

The AF speed on the FZ1000 and the FZ300 is as fast as an entry level DSLR, thanks to the "Depth from defocus" system
I prefer the FZ1000 over a DSLR as it is much more versatile and with the 1" sensor
and the good and fast Leica zoomlens, it can deliver excellent pictures. (and I don't like changing lenses anymore :) )

Oh yeah, totally forgot about those.

Its true, what you can see in the internet is quite impressive. Well, the GH4 AF seemed to be too nervous for use during video, but for stills that shouldnt be an issue.

A 1" sensor doesnt do it for me, though. I like me large sensors and bright prime lenses.
