What's new

Ps, lightroom or another editing software

Lightroom is a great start! I absolutely love it.

So I've got lightroom 4, and have had a play around with a few images, ( found i few old PS tricks like spot remover, teeth whitener and red eye ect ect ect ) will have to learn to use it now.

Thanks again to everyone for there input

I work already long time with an old version of Camera Raw, and want to try something different for my workflow.

My disadvantages of Camera Raw is that there is less detail, and I have to sharpen it more afterwards.

Few days ago, I tested Nikon’s free View NX 2.
All my pics were immediately as good as shown on the display of my camera.
The advantage I had, was I had more detail than in Camera Raw, and I could sharpen it better, colours were better.
The disadvantage I had, was that it was very slow, and the output photos were 3 times as big as with Camera Raw. I also cannot add vignette, and save some settings to batch lots of photos.

Maybe I missed a lot of stuff, and it can be possible, I tested it in a hurry…

I wonder if Capture NX is as slow as View NX, and what extra stuff can you do with that? Anyone experience?

I tried Lightroom aswel in a hurry, as trial, and it had too many menus and buttons for me. As I just need if for simple editing, it seemed too complex, aswel the sliders/fader are too short for me, I like wider ones like in Camera Raw.

Can someone suggest me what I need? J

Since a few days I discovered AfterShot Pro by Corel, seems very handy:
- fast
- affordable
- very userfriendly, efficient tools
- with Paint Shop Pro, you can aswel open .pdf files , create HDR, macro's,...
- works in different environments, so aswel Linux

Tried a trial, going to purchase I think... but not a download, on a cd, so I can still reuse it later if my pc crashes.

Aftershot is a very unappreciated editor that does an excellent job. That software had a pretty good following of users when it was Bibble 5 however Corel did some things that really annoyed the user base so many of them have moved to something else. I tried Bibble 5 and liked it pretty well, my only complaint being that it was rather slow on the computer I had at the time. I bought Aftershot when it was released and even though I don't use it much I do feel that it is an excellent editor.

When changing the sliders in Aftershot Pro, the photo is thrilling a bit, while updating the changes.
It's kind of strange and sometimes annoying.

I tried ACDSee too, aswel very good alternative, even more handy I think and has very well results.
But this one does not come in a box, and does not work on Linux.
Hmmm...
