Quantaray Flash Question

Just bought a Nikon D80, and also found on ebay an auction where the seller was selling two Quantaray flash units. One is a 7500A, and the other is a 9550U. Both came with Nikon controllers. With batteries in the units, they both flash manually.

The Nikon Controller that came with the 7500 has a switch on the back marked "M" or Auto/TTL. That controller works on both flash units when it is in the "M" (manual?) mode. The other controller has no switch, and is labeled NK TTL Digital. When that controller is attached to either unit, it doesn't fire the flash.

A bit of Googling doesn't turn up any Quantaray unit that is listed as being compatible with the D90, only the D50 and D70.

Some older flash controllers were made to work with dTTL in which case it will not work with iTTL. My METZ controllers are like that, they work with the F4s but not with my digital bodies.
