question about a lense?

Could anyone tell me more information or give me an approximate value for a lense?

It's an Albinar ADG 28-52mm 1: 2.8 macro, currently used on a Nikon body.

I'm a bit of a beginner and need some advice.

so it looks as though the lens is worth at best $50. If you tell us which camera you have and what you would like to shoot perhaps we could offer some other solutions.

28-52? what kind of a range is that?

I'd pass because it sounds like it would be one of the first zoom lenses, and the first zooms were notoriously terrible.

You might try going to e-bay and typing E in the search bar while in the Nikon section of camera lenses. The E series lens bodies were not built to quite the same standards as others in Nikons line up but for the most part their optics were.

For manual focus lenses I wouldn't bother getting anything other than Nikon. Just remember that you need AI or later and even if you get an AF lens anything with a G in the description will be unusable.

BTW, you very best bet if you are looking for a first lens (or 2nd if you don't already have one) is a 50mm f/1.4 AI-s Series E.
