My little mutt

My opinion from an untrained eye, I like the picture, just wondering what all the pros think :P

Oh so cute but the i cant see the cuteness much because its too dark, you should have more lightnings or have a different background :sexywink:

I think having a light in the back facing the dog would have helped separate him from the background. I'm just learning about lighting though, so I could be wrong.

More lighting on the dog to pickup the detail in the dark fur.
A lighter background to help the dog stand out.
Don't dead center your subject, follow the ROT.

Thanks for the replies, I will try lighting and ROT soon. I just kinda liked how he is mysterious in a way with coming out of the black backgound, but still kind of blends in!

Really like the shot, looks like a nice crop,
but like almost everyone who has posted,
it is a little dark. Really nice photo though!

Here is version 2. I just found

Its not well exposed, the dog blend with the black background

More lighting on the dog to pickup the detail in the dark fur.
.
Nope, won't work, because of the reflectivity of the dogs fur.

To maintain the same exposure of the highlights, adding more light would necessitate using a smaller aperture, negating the use og more light,

The light used was to low and to close to the lens axis which is why the dogs right eye hax the equivelent of 'red eye'.
