Does film go bad?

I know you're supposed to store unused film and paper in a fridge, but what about exposed film?

I have about nine rolls of film from various times in the last 2 years. Wouldn't mind getting them developed now that I have some money, but I don't want to waste the cash?

Will they be useless now?

I know this is in the wrong forum, but I'm trying to get an answer sooner than later.

A month or two ago I shot a roll that expired in 1997. It worked fine. It depends on the conditions it was in. I would try to develop those

I had several rolls that I shot and left for about three years and had no problems. They were left in a closet and on a shelf in my office that had some pretty warm summers and they were good.

As long as you keep them in a location that is low humidity and fairly cool they will be fine.

In 2000, I developed some slide film shot in about '93 and it was fine.
